We are Thankful for Cousins

The kids had a blast seeing all of their cousins. They played, and played, and played. One night they pulled an all nighter. The only thing missing was all of their older cousins who couldn't make it.

While we were in San Diego we shopped, and ate out, and shopped, and shopped some more. I am happy to say that I finished Christmas shopping. It was like we had never seen a mall before. We had so much fun.

I am Grateful for Girl's Night Out

While in San Diego I was able to go out with some of the best women I know. We went to Domenic's (a restaurant that I have missed). It was fun to catch up and laugh. These girls have been so good to me, thanks for being my friends!

We are Thankful for Thanksgiving Day 25

We were so lucky to be able to go to California for Thanksgiving. We left Wednesday after James got off of work. We drove all night.....and it was a long, long, long night. We got into a bit of weather, and at one point we had to pull off the rode to wait it out. I am pretty sure that we both lost about ten years off of our lives from all the stress!

Rebecca had arranged for all of us to have Thanksgiving dinner at Maggiano's in Costa Mesa. We thought it would be easier than going to Poppy and Grandmama's house when they haven't been feeling very well. So 39 of us went out to dinner!

It was awesome to see everyone and I can honestly say it was one of the funnest Thanksgiving Dinners we have had. We laughed, and played around and we didn't have to cook or clean up...how do you beat that! It was wonderful to see all the family that we haven't been able to see. It was especially nice to finally meet Gigi too! She is adorable.

I Am Grateful for Hot Water...Day 24

Today I cleaned my house and as I was cleaning I was actually grateful for HOT water. I thought about all those pioneer ladies who had to constantly heat water to clean with, and all I have to do is turn the facet on....I am truly grateful for hot water.

Gratitude Day 23.....A Break From School

We are so grateful to have a break from school....granted it is only for a few days, but my kids are loving it!

I Am Grateful for Snow.....Day 22

It was so beautiful to wake up this morning to a light blanket of snow on the ground. It makes the Holiday season seem more real to me.It was even more beautiful to see that it did not stick to any of the roads, and that it was all melted by noon. I sure don't like to drive in it! So today I am grateful for the quick picture of snow, and that it is gone!

I Am Grateful for the Priesthood....Day 21

Yesterday James and I were able to take Ethan to a special Priesthood Preview Fireside. It was for all of the boys who will be turning 12 this next year. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I can't believe that I will have two boys, who are both young men, who both will pass the sacrament. It is an honor to have these men in my life, and to know that they respect and honor the Priesthood.
One of the Branch Presidents told the boys that they need to read D&C 84, 88, and 107. These chapters outline their responsibilities as Deacons. I look forward to going over these chapters with Ethan.

I Am Grateful for Saturdays......Day 20

Today was the first Saturday that I did not have a billion things planned. No soccer games, no Church activity, nothing. Yeah and AHHHHH!
So what did I do.......Put up two Christmas Trees and decorated the house for Christmas. Why...well I have my reasons and I know I am early, but it is done!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving and a very early Merry Christmas!

Day 19....I am Grateful for baby Kayl Ray McPherson

Today is a fantastic day! It is the day that my new grand nephew was born....Kayl Ray Mc Pherson, 6 lbs 7 ounces!
I am so excited to get my hands on this little guy, and I am so grateful that he arrived safely! I can't help but think that Samantha was a little sad today to let this little guy come. I know that she must have been taking care of him, and preparing him for his journey.
We are grateful for our newest member of our clan....KAYL! Great job Katie and Paul!!!

Day 18....Thankful for Our Middle Child

I am grateful for my middle child. He is the one who is quiet, yet funny when he does talk. He is the one that tries to blend in, and that I need to be more mindful of. He is the one who loves his mother and is always ready for a hug, but will not kiss her (except maybe once in awhile on the check). He is the one who has learned to love to read and reads now passionately. He is a best friend to his brother, and sister. He is a blessing. He is our Ethan, and we are grateful for him!

Day 17.....Dear Editor

THE FOLLOWING IS A TRUE, YET HUMILIATING STORY!

Last week in Young Men, the boys were trying to finish their communication merit badge. As one of the requirements, they had to send a letter to the editor of the local newspaper. His leader called me this Monday night and told me that Elijah's letter had been selected to be published, but that he had not put his name on it (this should have been my first clue), and would it be okay to publish it with his name. The naive mother that I am, I said yes thinking that Elijah is such a good kid, and he must have wrote something special! BIG MISTAKE.

On Wednesday this was the letter I found in the newspaper that had been published....

Dear Editor:

Are school bus drivers protected from being fired?

I go to Heights Middle School. I quit riding the bus. The reason why is every day the driver was hitting curbs and signs. We have complained to the principal, but they won't do anything.

Last winter, the driver got us stuck in a ditch. The driver is blind in one eye and drives worse than my grandmother. She threatens us daily. What can be done about this driver?

Elijah Larsen, 13 Farmington

I AM SO EMBARRASSED.....but they did spell our last name wrong, and he is not quite 13, so maybe I can just deny it!

Day 16! Crazy Hair Day

So I have gotten a little behind.....but I am still thankful. I will try to catch up now!

Day 16....I am grateful for Crazy Hair Day. My kids love this day at school. It's the one day of the whole year when they can show who they really are. Olivia didn't want her hair "crazy" she just wanted blue and purple highlights (well obviously they are not highlights, but all over hair color). She asked me later if we could get them permanently done....I said NO!

Ethan on the other hand is a bit different. He wanted to express his crazy side, by having a two toned Mohawk...the only problem was that the closer we got to leaving for school he was becoming quite agitated. He was worried that it wasn't really going to be crazy hair day. So as he got out of the car, he pulled the hood over his hawk and scurried to class....to his relief it WAS crazy hair day!

The Heavens Opened for Me Today....Day 15

Today I went to Walgreen's to get some colored hairspray for crazy hair day tomorrow. As I was about to leave, Olivia said that she wanted to try to find some mint M&M's (they remind her of Christmas time). So we went and found them, and sitting next to them were the Larson FAVORITES.....Cherry Cordial M&M's. We haven't seen these for at least two years! We are so grateful for Cherry Cordial M&M's....but I don't think my diet is!
p.s .... Did I mention that I think James is closing in on 225, he actually wanted these instead of dinner! He really takes this whole Santa Claus thing too seriously!

Primary Program.....Day 14

Wow, am I ever grateful! Today was our Sacrament Primary Program. There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into this program and I am so grateful that it is over. I've been trying to remember, but I think that it is the 5th or 6th program in a row that I have been involved in. I always stress so bad that it is not going to go as planned....and frankly it never does, but it always turns out great. It is not great because of me, I know that it is Heavenly Father blessing us. The children all did a great job!

But for today, I am grateful that I can check one more thing off my list.....atleast until next year!

I am Grateful for a Home.....Day 13

I was so tired last night that I didn't post....but that does not mean I am not grateful!!! I cleaned house all day yesterday, and I mean all day. I am so grateful to have a home! I am grateful for a roof over our heads. I am grateful that it is our little sanctuary from the rest of the world!

Grateful for this Freakshow....Day 12

Today I am grateful for my little freakshow...She loves when I call her that. Olivia is full of spit and spunk. She can be the most princessy princess or the feistiest little devil, but I think she is wonderful!!!
She came home from school today telling me that she made the honor roll. We are so proud of her! She tries so hard at whatever she does. Tomorrow is her first Soccer Tournament and she can hardy wait...we shall see how it plays out.
But for today....We are grateful for OLIVIA!

I Am Grateful for Veterns....Day 11

Just a quick shout out to my relatives who have served our country. Both of my Grandfathers.....Raymond Blair, and James Anderson Thompson (I wish I had pictures to post of them). And to my father-in-law Walter Parkinson Larson. And to my Uncle Troy Thompson. I am grateful to these men who have served honorably, and for the countless others who serve our country......THANK YOU and the Larson Family is GRATEFUL!!!

I Am Grateful for Little Caesar's..... Day 9

Elijah and James had planned to have Elijah's soccer team season party at our house tonight. I kept asking him, meaning James, to call the coach to find out if we needed to order the pizza or not....and he didn't. So the boys (13 hungry 13-14 year old boys) all showed up with no pizza available!!!! YIKES.

In a complete panic, I went to Little Caesar's and to my great pleasure they had eight hot pizzas ready to go....and for only $42.00. How can you not be grateful for Little Caesar's when you are in a bind! YEAH FOR PIZZA, PIZZA!

Gratitude Day 8.....FHE

We had a great lesson tonight from James, based on President Eyring's Conference talk. We talked about being fearless in standing up for what is right. James tied it into our familiy's scripture studying. Right now we are reading about the Stripling Warriors and how they were fearless when they fought. It was a great lesson, and I am grateful for the scriptures and the messages in the conference addresses. I hope we can be fearless in doing what is right.

Grateful Day 7.....Rest

I forgot to post last night because I was asleep. Yesterday I was grateful for Daylight Savings time and that it was time to "FallBack" and get an extra hour of sleep. I am grateful for an extra hour!

I Am Grateful for....Day 6

Today was a crazy day....I drove to Bloomfield (a 25 minute drive) for Olivia's soccer game, drove her home so that she could change into her bathing suit for a b-day party, dropped her off, drove to Aztec (another 25 minute drive) to watch Elijah play soccer, back home, then picked up Olivia from her party, ran her home and showered her and immediately took her to another birthday party, drove clear across town to pick up Elijah from a friends house, drove to James' work because he left a set of keys he needed, back to get Olivia from her party, picked up pizza for dinner, drove home, ate dinner, then went to Cold Stone to celebrate Olivia's one goal and Elijah's 3 goals in their games today. FINALLY, it's time to go to bed. I am so tired today, but I can't help but think of the blessing I have! I am grateful for my health...that I am able to do all of these things....I am grateful for my car....that it runs properly and gets me to the places I go, I am grateful for my husband's job...that he is able to work so that I can do those mom things for my kids. I have been blessed....and I am grateful!

Grateful for Rare Date Nights....Day5

Tonight James and I had a rare date night. We drove to Colorado (a 45 minute drive) and ate at a restaurant that we have heard about since we got here. It is in a tiny, and I mean tiny town named Hesperus. Kennebec Cafe is definitely worthy of it's reputation. It was nice to have the long drive there and back just to hang out with James. So tonight I am grateful for our date night!

Gratitude Day 4....Technology

I am grateful today for Technology. It makes my life so much easier. When I have a problem....I go to the computer. If I need a recipe....I go to the computer. If I want to communicate with someone fast...I go to the computer. When I need help with something for church...I go to the computer. The Internet has made my life easier and I am grateful for it!

I am Grateful for my Ancestors...Day 3

Monday night we had Family Home Evening with a member of our Stake Presidency. He is also one of my cousins (did I mention that the Stake President is related too?) He told us some really neat stories about our ancestors. George Bloomfield and Lucy Guyman Bloomfield were one of the first six missionary couples to serve missions in the church. They served seven full time missions! The piano we have is the one that they donated to the first church building on the Navajo Reservation. We heard the coolest stories.... James has always bugged about how he is related to royalty in England. Elijah traced our family genealogy to the Kings of Scotland, and on to the Roman Empire! What a neat legacy. I am grateful for my heritage.

Gratitude Day 2....FREEDOM

It would be hard today of all days not to be thankful for the freedom which I enjoy. I am thankful for my small voice being heard when I cast my ballot. I am thankful to live in a country where "We the People" decide! I love my FREEDOM!!!

Gratitude Day 1

It's that time of the year! For the past couple of years I have posted daily in November the things that I am grateful for. I'm not going to look up the past ones, so I might repeat myself from previous years. I guess it just goes to show the things that I repeat, I must really be thankful for!

Today I am grateful for my husband James! He had the day off and he spent it in our office, going through mounds and mounds of paper, and paid our bills...Yeah for me!!! I'm grateful that when he has a day off that he is always busy trying to do things around the house, or he just wants to spend it with his family.

Thank you James...I am grateful for you!!! I Love You!!!
